Description	:	KEARNEY — Lona K. (Jacobsen) Thagard, 63, of Kearney died Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at CHI Health Good Samaritan. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Klein officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach. She was born June 16, 1951, in St. Paul to Alvin and Elaine (Johnston) Jacobsen. In December 1970, she married James Thagard in Wolbach. Read More	KEARNEY — Lona K. (Jacobsen) Thagard, 63, of Kearney died Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at CHI Health Good Samaritan. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Klein officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach. She was born June 16, 1951, in St. Paul to Alvin and Elaine (Johnston) Jacobsen. In December 1970, she married James Thagard in Wolbach. Survivors include her daughter, Michelle Sulinski and her husband, Edward, and their children, Alex, Maycee and Lainey, all of Aldie, Va.; son, Matthew of Omaha; her mother of Kearney; brother, Lyle Jacobsen and his wife, Dorothy, of Kearney; and many nieces and nephews and many other relatives. She attended school in and graduated from Wolbach High School in 1963. She attended Grand Island Business School. She worked as a bookkeeper for Ensley Electric and later for True Value in Grand Island. She moved to Kearney in 1979 and worked at Hellman’s Ready to Wear and Horizon Designs. In 1981, she went to work for Good Samaritan Hospital in the environmental service department until her death. She enjoyed her garden and flowers. She was an avid weather watcher. She loved time spent with her family, especially with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father in 1962 and her daughter-in-law, Denise Shoemaker-Thagard.
