Description	:	Loren D. Beran, 90, of Beatrice passed away at Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation on Saturday, November 30, 2019. He was born September 30, 1929 at Odell to Alfred E. & Elsie L. (Pribyl) Beran. He graduated from Odell High School in 1947 and attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln for 2 years. Beran, 90, of Beatrice passed away at Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation on Saturday, November 30, 2019. He was born September 30, 1929 at Odell to Alfred E. & Elsie L. (Pribyl) Beran. He graduated from Odell High School in 1947 and attended the University of Nebraska, Lincoln for 2 years. Loren served in the United States Air Force from 1950-53 where he was stationed in Germany. After the service he farmed in Canada with his aunt and uncle for three years and then returned home to farm with his father for a couple of years. He then moved to Lincoln and worked for a brokerage firm for 3 years before moving back to Beatrice to become the Assistant Manager of Farmers Union Co-op Supply Company. Loren worked his way up to manager and retired on his birthday in 1991 after 30 years of service. After retiring from the co-op he continued as the manager/owner of Spud’s Body Shop and Welding Supply until 1998. Loren married Marcella Grabher on June 30, 1963 in Beatrice and became an instant father to Marcella’s children, Fred and Peggy. Marcella passed away on February 6, 2007. He married Teda Jurgens on June 13, 2009 in Beatrice. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion and Geddes-Thober Post #1077 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, F.O.E. Aerie #531 all of Beatrice. After retirement he enjoyed woodworking and showing his wares at craft fairs. His other passions included traveling the world and farming. Survivors include his wife, Teda Beran of Beatrice; step-children, Fred (Mona) Grabher of Omaha, Robert (Joyce) Jurgens of Beatrice, Karen Jurgens of Endicott, Doris (Ernest) Kerr of Beatrice; step-son-in-law, Brad Tennant of Beatrice; step-daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Shotkoski-Jurgens of Blue Springs; 15 step-grandchildren, 27 step-great grandchildren and 1 step-great great grandchild; sister, Arlene Hofmann of Tilden; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marcella; step-daughter, Peggy Tennant, step-sons, Dennis and Dale Jurgens, brother and sister-in-law, Vernon & Shirley Beran; brother-in-law, Chuck Hofmann. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Kathee Forrest officiating. A family prayer services will be held on Wednesday at 10:15 A.M. at the church. Burial will take place at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice with military rites conducted by Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion of Beatrice and the United States Air Force Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion Beatrice or Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice with the funeral home in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice on Tuesday from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M., and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
