He departed this life on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 70 years. As a young boy Loren grew up in the Ruskin, Nebraska area being baptized and confirmed at St. Mark Lutheran Church. He attended rural schools near Ruskin. After his schooling Loren farmed for a short while before going to work for Lee Penney at his Filling Station and later found employment at Ideal Cement Plant in Superior. Loren served his country with the United States Marines from 1956 to 1958. On May 1, 1960 he was united in marriage to Catherine Uhrmacher at Salem Lutheran Church north of Superior. This union was blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters. The couple made farming their life's work for many years in the Superior, Nebraska area. In his spare time, Loren enjoyed working in his shop, creating unique projects which he gave to his family. Loren and Cathy have been long time members of a local card club which they dearly enjoyed. Loren was a member of Centennial Lutheran Church of Superior. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Deloris. Survivors include his wife Cathy of Superior, Ne; sons Darin Ahrens and wife Rhonda of Gretna, NE; Joel Ahrens and wife Heidi of Kearney, NE; daughters : Lona Andrerson and husband Tom of Denton, NE; Carla Pierce and husband Tim of Lincoln, NE; sister Kathy Wienmann and husband Paul of Arvada, CO; brothers Delane Ahrens and wife Mary of Niland, CA; Gary Ahrens and wife Jan of Niland, Ca; grandchildren, Payne, Cannon and Grace Ahrens; Johnathon and Brittany Pierce and Elijah and Chloe Ahrens, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held this Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 10:30 AM, at the Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior, NE. The Rev. Paul Albrecht will be officiating. Burial will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior. Williams Funeral Home of Superior, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
