Description	:	Lorena M. Overing of York, NE, died September 21, 2015. She was born September 23, 1921, on the farm near Nelson, Nebraska, to Henry and Ida (Schiermeyer) Schleif. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, Nelson, and graduated from Nelson High School in 1939. She worked in secretarial positions in Nelson, Lincoln, Hebron and Grand Island. She spent many happy hours with the Boy and Girl Scout troops and Sunday School classes. She especially enjoyed her flowers and traveling to see her grandsons. She was born September 23, 1921, on the farm near Nelson, Nebraska, to Henry and Ida (Schiermeyer) Schleif. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, Nelson, and graduated from Nelson High School in 1939. She worked in secretarial positions in Nelson, Lincoln, Hebron and Grand Island. She married John Overing from York on December 30, 1951. To this union three children were born, one daughter Sue (John) O’Shea, two sons, John (Patty) Overing, and Michael (Theresa) Overing. They were blessed with seven grandsons: Brennan (Maggie) and Cailen (Amber) O’Shea, James (Stephanie) and Matthew (Kylee) Overing, Robert, John and Andrew Overing, and new great-granddaughter Olivia Madison Overing (James and Stephanie). Survivors include her husband, John, their children, sisters-in-law Rose and Jean Schleif, brother-in-law, William Biggs, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lorena was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Juanita and Aletha, and brothers Marvin and Lin. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of York, NE, or Salem Lutheran Church, Nelson, NE. Services will be held Thursday, September 24, 10 am at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1211 East 14th Street, York, NE, 68467. Interment will be in York’s Greenwood Cemetery.
