He was baptized and confirmed his Christian Faith at Hope Lutheran Church near Lawrence, Nebraska. On February 15, 1917, he was united in marriage to Ida Schiermeyer in the old Salem Lutheran Church. He was baptized and confirmed his Christian Faith at Hope Lutheran Church near Lawrence, Nebraska. On February 15, 1917, he was united in marriage to Ida Schiermeyer in the old Salem Lutheran Church. Henry Schleif lived his entire life in the Nelson area - farming for a number of years northwest of Nelson and then working for Farmers Union Oil Co. about 32 years. He entered Nuckolls County Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, September 16th and passed away early Thursday morning, September 17th at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 21 days. His parents; 4 sisters, Martha, Mrs. Henry Brennfoerder; Ella, Mrs. William Brennfoerder; Elizabeth, Mrs. Ernest Grummert and Anna and 2 brothers, Ed and Gus preceded him in death. Those remaining are his wife, Ida; 2 brothers, Eric of Nelson and Emil of Fort Madison, Iowa; 3 daughters, Juanita, Mrs. Fred Van Liew, Lincoln; Lorena, Mrs. John Overing, Hebron and Aletha, Mrs. William Biggs, Lincoln; 2 sons, Marvin, Lincoln and Lindell, Fairbury; 11 grandchildren and a large number of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 19, 1970 at 2:00 p.m. in the Salem Lutheran Church. Pastor George J. Feistner officiated. Casket bearers were Richard Schleif, Alvin Schleif, Francis Schleif, Virgil Schleif, Albert Brennfoerder and Melvin Brennfoerder. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Nebraska.
