She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Fred Silvey, of Boone, and three brothers, Albert, for whom she kept house, George, of Compton, Ill., and Leonard, of Stratford. Last rites were held in the Lutheran church here yesterday at 2 o'clock following a prayer service in the country home at 1:15 o'clock. Both were in charge of the Rev. C.S. Ericson. Interment was in the South Marion cemetery. Stratford Courier February 6, 1941 Obituary Miss Lorena Brandt Lorena May Brandt died unexpectedly at 2 o'clock a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, in the county hospital in Webster City following a short illness. She was 56 years, 11 months, 11 days old. She was born near Stratford on Feb. 16, 1884, a daughter of the late Gust and Christina Johnson Brandt, and was reared in this community, together with a sister and three brothers. She received her education in the rural schools of the community. In 1909, death called the mother from the family circle and Lorena took over the duties of the home. The father died in 1932 and she had since made her home with her brother, Albert, who now owns the original Brandt farm. She was a faithful member of the Ladies Aid Society of the Lutheran church and of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her greatest pleasure was in helping others. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Fred Silvey, of Boone, and three brothers, Leonard and Albert, of Stratford, and George, of Compton, Ill. A sister and a brother have preceded her in death. Also surviving are four nieces and one nephew: Arlene, Evelyn, Janette, Deloris and Donald Silvey, all of Boone. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1:15 in the home and at 2 o'clock in the Lutheran church, both services being in charge of the Rev. C.S. Ericson. The Berglund sisters sang, "Home of the Soul," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages." Interment was made on the family lot in the South Marion cemetery. The pallbearers were Rudy Hubner, Albert Hubner, Gust Berglund, John Sonksen, Elmo Westrum, Waller Erickson. The community extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved relatives.
