Holland, a retired teacher, dies HEMINGWAY – Lorena Huggins White Holland, a retired school teacher, died Friday in a Florence hospital. The funeral will be at 4:30 p.m. Today at Morris Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery. Mrs. Holland was born January 5, 1903, in Hemingway, a daughter of Fred E. Huggins and Margaret Ann Eaddy Huggins. She taught first grade for 36 years in Hemingway. She was the widow of James B. White and the Rev. John H. Holland, Jr. She was a graduate of Hemingway High School and attended Chicon College in Columbia, SC. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught the Beginners Sunday school class for 20 years and worked with the Children's Division for 10 years. She helped with Vacation Bible School and helped furnish and serve communion for more than 30 years. She was also a member of the Olivia Epps Circle of the church, was Miss Society at the church and held several church offices. Surviving are a brother, Edwin Huggins of Hemingway; three sisters, Sadie Mae Brockington, Mildred H. Hanks and Margaret O'Bryan, all of Florence; several step-children and several step-grandchildren.
