Arrangements by the Jones & Casey Funeral Home of Salmon, Idaho. Lorene was born in Jordan Montana on Oct 19, 1929. She is one of five children of Harry and Laura Kemmerer. She grew up in Thompson Falls, Montana where she graduated from Thompson Falls High School. She Married Scott Harrison Johnston and had two children: Theodore and Linda. Later Lorene married Frederick Clayton Church and had two additional children: Nia and Ned. From the late 1950’s to the late 1960’s, Lorene was working as a secretary and office manager in Boise, Idaho. In 1967 Fred was killed in an automobile accident. To better care for herself and the children the family moved to Portland, Oregon where she went to work for the IRS and later the Department of Commerce. She started out as a secretary and moved up in rank several times attaining a GS-12 rating and the position of Foreign Trade Specialist. This position was especially satisfying to Lorene as she dearly loved to travel. Both in her capacity as a Foreign Trade Specialist and as avid tourist Lorene had the opportunity to visit 55 countries. One of her favorite pastimes was playing the accordion. Her father played when she was younger and she just loved the wonderful memories it always brought back when she played as an adult. She also played the piano and organ and a few other woodwind instruments when she was much younger. Lorene loved to dance. She spent several years learning to ballroom dance. She also was an avid square dancer for many years. Lorene is survived by her three children: Linda Cooper living in Portland, Oregon, Theodore Church and his wife Dallas living in Las Vegas, Nevada; and Nia Collins and her husband Bob living in Buckley Washington. Daughter-in-law Becky Jo Church and Lorene’s sister, Esther Mund, live in Salmon, Idaho. Lorene has 7 Grandchildren; Cory Church, Brandi Minch, Josh Church, Simone Tanke, Tanya Daimler, Wyoming Telford and Bryan Telford. In addition she has 7 great grandchildren; Kellan Minch, Kenley Minch, Sophie Tanke, Gabe Church, twins Anthony Mines Jr. & Tasia Mines and Abigale Daimler. She was preceded in death by her husbands, son Ned Church and two great grandchildren Auzhinae Daimler and Autumn Steiner.
