Surviving are 2 children, Judith Skay, Monticello, Dennis (Corliss) McDonald, Des Moines, 4 grandchildren, Neil (Julia) McDonald, Amy (Josh) O'Brien, both of Des Moines, Alan (Lisa) Skay, Leavenworth, Washington, Daniel (Lynnette) Skay, Colorado Springs, Colorado, 10 great-Grandchildren, Bella, Jake, Conner, Jared, Candice, Kaitlyn, Nathaniel, Emily Susan, Isaac, Josiah. She was preceded in death by her Parents, her husband Dean in 1994, 2 sisters, Eliza Shannon and Clara Rieken, 3 brothers, Herman, Emil and Lester Zimmerman, and a great-Grandson Andrew. Lorene Marjorie Zimmerman was born February 13, 1912 near Monticello, Iowa. She was the daughter of John and Anna Helgens, Zimmerman. Lorene graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1932 as the Salutatorian. She then taught in the rural schools on Wayne Township, Jones County, Iowa for 5 years. On September 10, 1938 Lorene Zimmerman and Dean McDonald were married at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. The couple farmed for 8 years near Center Junction, Iowa and for 35 years near Scotch Grove. They retired from farming in 1981 and moved to Monticello. Lorene was a life long member of the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed her faith.
