Description	:	Obit of Lorenzo Dow Smith Lorenzo Dow Smith was born in Virginia, February 6, 1843, died at the Soldiers' Home near Milford, Nebr., September 30, 1925 at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 24 days. He came while yet a boy to Linn county, Mo., where he grew to manhood and was married to Mary Belche, June 9, 1862. To this union nine children were born two daughters and seven sons. Read More	Obit of Lorenzo Dow Smith Lorenzo Dow Smith was born in Virginia, February 6, 1843, died at the Soldiers' Home near Milford, Nebr., September 30, 1925 at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 24 days. He came while yet a boy to Linn county, Mo., where he grew to manhood and was married to Mary Belche, June 9, 1862. To this union nine children were born two daughters and seven sons. Those who survive their father are Mrs. Hiram Flock of Ericson, Ne., Joe Smith, Stone, Colorado and Captain Smith of Nemaha, otherwise known as Capper. His wife passed to her great reward, May 9, 1900 and Mr. Smith married to his 2nd wife, Mrs. Mary Flock, December 24, 1903. He was a soldier belonging to the 18th Mo. Volunteer Inft., was wounded, and a gun shot wound in the shoulder still carries the bullet. He was captured and several times in both Libby and Andersonville prisons. His normal weight being 170 he only weighed 90 pounds when the war was over. He united with the M.E. church at Powersville, Mo. 37 years ago and remained a member till the end. Being faithful until death God will give him a crown of life. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, one daughter, two sons, one brother at Powersville, Mo., ten grand-children, 19 great grand-children, besides a host of friends and neighbors, who extend their sympathy at this sad hour. He was a good husband and father, a splendid neighbor and citizen and although he has been an invalid for several years will be missed by those near and dear to him. May God add this blessing. The body was shipped to Nemaha Thursday evening and the funeral was held at the Christian church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J.W. Sapp. Music was furnished by Mrs. C.P. Barber, Mrs. W.T. Hall, Mrs. Diegkerson, Mrs. Roy Handley, and Mrs. C. Russell at the piano. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers. Interment in Nemaha cemetery.
