Powers Funeral Home of Pocahontas handled the arrangements. Loretta Mary Deheck was born May 2, 1912, at Pocahontas, Iowa. She was the daughter of Henry and Rose (McCahill) Deheck. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1930 and attended business school in Cherokee . On April 17, 1934, Loretta married Leo Shors in Pocahontas. The couple settled east of Pocahontas where they farmed. In 1983, they moved into Pocahontas. Leo passed away in 1993. Loretta was a member of the Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church, Catholic Ladies Society and Catholic Order of Foresters. She was honored with the “Governor’s Volunteer Award” for her volunteer work with the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and playing cards. Survivors include her children, Dale (Nancy) Shors of St. Charles, MO and Joyce (David) Drew of Ellston; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and a brother, Richard (Shirley) Deheck of Clemmons, NC. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Dorothy Javorsky, Lucille Javorsky, Rosemary Collee and Helen Santovec and two year old brother, Louis.” Funeral Tuesday April 6, 2010, 10:30 AM Contributed by Ann Bowler, #46893124 and Joseph Roberts
