Sangel officiated at the services. Loretta Brokaw of Monticello died July 12 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Loretta Costley was born July 18,1901 at Watertown, SD, the daughter of Menzo and Alma Colver Costley. She received her education in the schools of Nevis, MN, and later worked in a private hospital at Park Rapids, MN. Loretta Costley and Elmer Brokaw were married July 30,1919 at Park Rapids, MN. They farmed near Nevis for a short time. The couple moved to Monticello in 1920 where Elmer worked for the Milwaukee Railroad. Loretta was employed by the Farley Poultry Company and later worked for Hoag Duster. She retired from Hoag Duster in 1966. Elmer preceded her in death on February 10,1980. Loretta is survived by seven children, Esther Streeper, and Alma Walton of Monticello; Betty Bradford of Piggott, AR, June Aschtgen of Rockford, IL,Elmer Brokaw of Cedar Rapids, Harold Brokaw of North Palm Beach, FL, Cora Pillard of Monticello, 45 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren, 22 great-great-grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, a daughter, a grandson, three great-grandchildren, three brother, and three sisters Casket bearers were Steven Streeper, Dennis Foster, David Foster, Leonard Pillard, Jim Howard, and Ron Bowen, John Brokaw, Don Bradford, and Kevin Zirkelbach
