Mrs. Lorna Mae Aldag was born the only child to Lorenz August Petersen and Elnora Fredericka (Knudsen) Petersen on October 13, 1946 at Battle Creek, Iowa. Lorna was baptized on November 3, 1946 in the rural Grant Lutheran Church near Schleswig, Iowa and later confirmed on March 26, 1961 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Schleswig. She attended schools at Schleswig, where she graduated from high school with the class of 1964. After high school, Lorna attended the National Business College at Sioux City, Iowa. She had completed numerous classes with the American Banking Association. On December 5, 1965, Miss Lorna Mae Petersen was united in marriage to James Henry Aldag at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig, Iowa. To this union two sons Travis James and Troy Alan were born. The Aldags resided on the family farms near Ida Grove, in Ida County, Iowa where "Jim" farmed and Lorna worked as a secretary in the shipping department of Gomaco Paving Machinery Company. They moved into Schleswig in 1990. They moved to Kearney, Nebraska in April of 1994 and Lorna became employed at Builders Warehouse and as secretary and bookkeeper of the family business, Countryside Construction. In 1999, Lorna became employed at the Kearney State Bank, where she was presently the head teller. The Aldags had moved to the VanDyke farmstead northwest of Huntley in December of 2001. Lorna was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney. Her hobbies were gardening, raising puppies and horses. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Lorna had recently had surgery and been treated for cancer and was on the road to recovery. She was preceded in death by her father in 1990; her mother-in-law, Leona Aldag; and a brother-in-law John or "Jack" Winsor. Lorna leaves to mourn her passing, her loving and devoted husband "Jim" of their rural home north of Alma; her two sons, Travis of Ida Grove, Iowa and Troy and wife, Michele of Vernon, Connecticut; four grandchildren, Austin and Melissa Aldag at home with their father in Ida Grove, Iowa and Casey and Cailyn Aldag at home with their parents in Vernon, Connecticut; her mother, Mrs. Elnora (Knudsen) Petersen of Schleswig, Iowa; her father-in-law, Theodore or "Theo" Aldag of Schleswig, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Janice Winsor of Kearney, Nebraska and JoAnn Clausen and husband, Larry of Schleswig, Iowa; many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
