She was born Feb. 19, 1921, at Stockport to Joseph and Violet Harter Blakeley. She married Waldo E. Jannings March 26, 1938, in Keosauqua. He died Feb. 15, 1989. Lorraine attended Stockport High School. She and Waldo farmed in the Milton area of Davis and Van Buren counties and retired to Troy in 1971. She moved to Milton following her husband's death. Jannings, 89, of Milton, died at 12:20 pm Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua. She was born Feb. 19, 1921, at Stockport to Joseph and Violet Harter Blakeley. She married Waldo E. Jannings March 26, 1938, in Keosauqua. He died Feb. 15, 1989. Lorraine attended Stockport High School. She and Waldo farmed in the Milton area of Davis and Van Buren counties and retired to Troy in 1971. She moved to Milton following her husband's death. She had worked at Knock-On-Wood Co. and for 20 years in the dietary department of Davis County Hospital, both in Bloomfield. She attended Milton Christian Church, was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and 8 Queens Card Club in Bloomfield, enjoyed dancing, was an excellent cook and was know for her willingness to lend a hand to neighbors and friends. Surviving are a son, Jerry Jannings(Verna)of New Florence, Mo.; five daughters, Lois Bradley(Don)of Milton, Sharon Johnson(Darryl)of Mason City, Nancy Zeitler(Fred)of Douds, Vicky Besco of Davenport and Julie Buttell(Mike)of Dallas, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a number of great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Blakeley(Kay)of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Theola Savage and Kathryn Waterman(Stan)of Burlington; other relatives and many friends. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Gene Blakeley; and two sisters, Meda Bailey and Alberta Schrepfer. Funeral services will be at 11am Saturday, Oct. 16, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua; Pastor Justin DeVries officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton. Visitation will open at 2pm today at the funeral home with family present 6-8pm Memorials to Van Buren County Hospital or Milton Christian Church.
