Description	:	Lou Ann Marie "Evelyn" Coleman Smith, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday morning, December 21, 2017 at the Hospice of Rockingham County. Evelyn was born on September 10, 1934 in Rockingham County to the late Dewey R. and Effie Adams Coleman. She was a longtime member of Bald Hill Baptist Church, and a homemaker. Evelyn loved her Lord and read the Bible daily. Read More	Lou Ann Marie "Evelyn" Coleman Smith, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday morning, December 21, 2017 at the Hospice of Rockingham County. Evelyn was born on September 10, 1934 in Rockingham County to the late Dewey R. and Effie Adams Coleman. She was a longtime member of Bald Hill Baptist Church, and a homemaker. Evelyn loved her Lord and read the Bible daily. The doors were always open at her home for anyone that needed a place to stay or a meal, she raised a lot of kids in this county and they were treated as her own, she loved to cook and we will never forget the endless stories, all the meals, the holiday gatherings, the Sundays when the family would all gather at her home. She loved all of her grandkids unconditionally and was so proud of them, even in their not so proud moments, she never gave up on them, they were her pride and joy. Evelyn was preceded in death by her father, Dewey Coleman and her mother and step father, Effie Adams Brame and husband James; her husband, Lloyd Welborn Smith; 2 sons, James Brent Smith and Ricky Smith; 1 daughter, Renee Lashley. A 2:00pm funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at Ray Funeral Home with the Dr. Ronnie Chaney officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery. Surviving are her 5 loving children; Dewey Smith (Marsha) of Stokesdale, Nadine Rumley (Phil) of Madison, Terry Smith (Ruth) of Eden, Mitchell Smith of Madison and Tonya Lynn Smith (Darrell Champion) of Reidsville. 9 grandchildren, Allen Smith (Mary), Jason Smith, Jacob Rumley, Johnny Smith (Sara), Missy Coppage (William), Samantha Lineberry (Michael), Cole Lashley (London), Donnie Barbour (Vicki) and Adam Barbour; 13 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Tim Coleman (Laazora) of Stoneville, 1 half sister, Ramell Oakley (John) of Smithfield, 2 half brothers, Larry Brame (April) of Stoneville and Mark Brame of Smithfield, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Ray Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Nadine Rumley. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Home of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375. Online condolences may be offered at www.rayfuneralhome.com. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the hospice staff and to Dr. Leonard Nyland and staff at Novant Health Primary Care Associates (Kristie) for all of your love, compassion and care during these difficult times.
