He was born October 25, 1956 in Rockingham County to Lloyd Weldon and Lou Ann "Evelyn" Marie Coleman Smith. He was employed by Cargo Transporters as a truck driver for 15 years. As a truck driver from an early age, Ricky had traveled to all 50 states in the Continental US. He was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed all types of music. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Weldon Smith; brother, James Brent Smith; grandparents, Isaac "Bud" and Lillan Shelton Smith, Dewey Coleman, Effie Adams Coleman Brame and husband James. He is survived by his mother, Lou Ann "Evelyn" Coleman Smith of Madison; brothers and sisters, Dewey Smith and wife Marsha of Stokesdale, Nadine Rumley and husband Phil of Madison, Terry Smith and wife Ruth of Eden, Renee Lashley and husband Tommy of Madison, Mitchell Smith of Madison, Tonya Ortega of Stokesdale; special nieces and nephews that he loved dearly and treated as his own children, John Smith and wife Sara, Allen Smith and wife Mary, Missy Coppage and husband Will, Jason Smith and wife Linda, Samantha Jo Smith, Jacob Rumley, Cole Lashley, Donnie Barbour, Adam Barbour; seven great nieces and nephews and several aunts and uncles. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Ray Funeral Home and other times at the home of his mother. Memorials may be made to The American Heart Association , 101 Centreport Drive, Greensboro, NC 27409 or The American Diabetes Association , PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
