Read More	Louella Alice Tharp , 93, of Gering died Saturday, April 3, 1999 at Northfield Villa Medical Center. Funeral services were held Monday, April 5, at Gering Memorial Chapel with Howard Roseberry officiating. Burial was in West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Louella was born in a log cabin on April 20, 1905 in Mitchell to John and Minnie (McCarthy) Ewing. She was one of four children: Tellford, Dwight, Wyola and herself Louella. At an early age she moved to the Ewing Ranch at the head of Carter Canyon. There she received her education. She was a true cowgirl and accomplished trick rider. She married Cyrus W. Tharp on Jan.9, 1929 in a double ceremony with her sister Wyola Ewing (Melvin Bennett). Cyrus and Louella moved to Gothenburg. They were involved in farming and ranching. Louella was one of the 1st residents at Northfield Villa. She and Cyrus celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary along with Wyola and Melvin Bennett at the Central Church of Christ in Gering. Louella was a step-mother to Cyrus's two daughters Lola and Vivian whose Mother Esther passed away at a very young age. She is survived by step daughters Vivian Overturff of Westminister, Colorado and Lola and Paul Heins of Gothenburg, nieces Susan, Derry and Tracy Bennett, Five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Cyrus, Parents John and Minnie, brothers Dwight and Tellford, Sister Wyola and her husband Melvin and a grandson. ====================================================== **By her niece Derry Bennett Creutz Louella was married to Cyrus William Tharp in a double wedding ceremony with her Sister Wyola Myrtle Ewing Bennett (Melvin). She lived in Gering and Gothenburg, Nebraska. Cyrus and Louella never had children of their own. However, she helped to raise Lola and Vivian after their mother passed away. Louella played the organ and loved to knit and crochet. She was very close to her family (Ewing). As a child, she would go on the dates of her sister and her beau (Melvin). She would chaperon them. I remember as a child going to Gothenburg to her home.
