Read More	Dayton Review August 25, 1921 Obituary Louis Henry Heitkamp was born in Burnside Township, this county, on the old Heitkamp homestead, now occupied by the Henry Lindermann family, on April 20, 1860, and passed this life at his home two miles southwest of Burnside on Monday morning of last week, August 15, 1921, aged 61 years, 3 months, 25 days. He spent his boyhood with his parents on the old family home place, and at the age of fourteen, was confirmed in the German Lutheran Church. On July 27, 1881, he was united in marriage to Miss Sophia Cornelia Mohr. To their union were born twelve children, four sons and eight daughters, all of whom survive to mourn with the bereaved wife, the loss of their father and husband. The following are the children: Mrs. John Venger of Grand Junction; Martin Heitkamp of Vestra, Minnesota; Albert Heitkamp of Burnside; Frank Heitkamp of Worthington, Minnesota; Mrs. Minne Hagge of Ogden; Mrs. Lillie Kirkman of Ledyard; Mrs. Tillie Kramer of Fort Dodge; Mrs. Hazel Craven of York, Nebraska; Mrs. Louella Crist of Round Lake, Minnesota; Mrs. Florence Phillip of Callendar; Irvin Heitkamp living at home; and Mrs. Bernice Burke of Burnside. He is also mourned by two brothers, John Heitkamp of Glidden, and Henry Heitkamp of Ogden, and by two sisters, Mrs. Henry Lindeman and Mrs. Louis Hoyer of Burnside; also by thirty-three grandchildren. Mr. Heitkamp spent all his life in Burnside township, ten years after his marriage on the place now owned by his brother John, and occupied by his son Albert; thence moving to the farm where he lived until his passing; all within three miles of his birthplace. He lived quietly, and happily, both in his family relationships, and peaceably and respected among his neighbors and friends. He was always devoted to his family, giving them his earnest love, and also loved his friends and neighbors and appreciated every association with them that opportunity gave, and loved to talk of the friends of his boyhood in kindly reminiscence. The last time the writer saw him, at his home a few days before his death, he spoke fondly of our boyhood and the days when our parents were intimate and neighbors, and our homes were frontier sentinels of pioneer life. His was a life of industry, but it was a happy life of helpfulness as well. Nor was it ever better illustrated than in the past three months, when he patiently awaited life's departure, testifying to his readiness to meet the Savior he loved, and prepared for the great journey to the eternal home. His funeral was held from the Baptist church at Burnside, conducted by the pastor, Rev. L. L. Smith, and his remains were laid to rest in Dayton cemetery. A host of friends feel in his departure a deep loss, and extend their heartfelt sympathy to Mrs. Heitkamp and the family in their hour of sorrow.
