"Mrs. Louis Halter, Old Resident, Passes Monday. Mrs. Louise Halter, for more than thirty years a resident of Melbourne, died at her home Monday afternoon. Mrs. Halter was born Louise Doerr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Doerr, at Massenbach, Wurttenberg, Germany, Nov. 9, 1849. She was one of a family of fourteen children. She came to this country in 1870 and in 1871 was married to Louis Halter. They made their home on a farm southwest of Melbourne, which farm still belongs to the Halter family. Thirty years ago they moved to Melbourne which has since been her home. Mr. Halter died seven years ago. She was the mother of eleven children, ten of whom survive. They are: George, Flandreau, S.D.; Albert, Onaka, S.D.; Leopold, Baxter, Edward, Joseph, Henry, Lester, Mrs. Charles Ginter, Mrs. Charles Flora and Mrs. Earl Lanning, all living in or near Melbourne. She is also survived by a brother, Tobis Doerr, who lives in Germany; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Scherle, of Germany; Mrs. Joseph Gauch, Baxter; and Miss Anna Doerr, Los Angeles, Calif., and fifty grandchildren. The funeral will be held from St. John's Reformed church at Melbourne but the time has not been set."
