His parents left the farm shortly before his marriage to Louise Amelia Becker, daughter of Christ and Louise Weideman Becker, at the home of her parents in Guttenberg. Louise Amelia Becker b. May 26, 1889, on a farm in Millville Twp. She attended Jolly Ridge School and remained at home to help with farm work until age 18. She then applied for work at the Glover Overall Factory in Guttenberg and was employed there until her marriage to William Bittner. The ceremony was performed by Rev. John Janzig of St. John's Lutheran Church on March 8, 1910. To this union one daughter b. on June 10, 1917 and christened Iva Roma Florence Bittner. She was reared on the same farm and attended the same school as her father before her. She also attended Guttenberg School. Upon the death of her father on Sept. 28, 1929, she and her mother moved to Guttenberg. There, they found work at local cafes and later on were notified of job openings at the American Pearl Button Co. Iva continued her employment there until her marriage to Roland Parson. Louise d.
