I did find the daughter's obit: Elgin Echo Wednesday 25 July 1962 Mrs. Ab West Bertha Mae Meisner West, daughter of William and Louise Hofer Meisner, was born at Elkader, May 14, 1896. She was baptized in the Congregational faith as an infant at Elkader, and confirmed in the Elgin Lutheran Church in 1953, where she has been a member. She received her education in the Clayton county rural schools. On December 31, 1912, she was united in marriage to Ab West at Elkader. They made their home in the Elgin and Elkader areas. She suffered a stroke at her home on June 27 and was taken to the Postville hospital on July 1. She died July 18 at the age of 66 years. Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, who died in infancy. Survivors are her husband, Ab, four sons, Francis and Russell of Elgin; Robert of Arlington; and Earl, Strawberry Point; one daughter, Darlene, Mrs. Alvin Theis; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and four half brothers, Francis Meisner, Postville; Realto, Elkader; and Arthur and Harold, Elgin. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Elgin Lutheran Church with the Rev. C.T. Fjelstul officiating. Burial was made in the Elgin cemetery. Casket bearers were William Feller, Strawberry Point; Alfred Cook, St. Olaf; Merlin Cook, Elkader; Richard Hofer, Clermont; Laurence West and Ben Dennler.
