Word was received here by relatives Wednesday morning of the death of Mrs. Nic Schrodt which occurred at the family home early that morning. Mrs. Schrodt had not been in the best of health since last June, and her condition seemed serious at times. She rallied and all were hopeful of her recovery, but all medical skill could do was of no avail. The cause of her death was heart trouble and dropsy. Deceased's maiden name was Miss Louise Lichter, and she was born at Luxembourg, this county, fifty-two years ago. She grew to womanhood at that place and twenty-nine years ago was united in marriage to Mr. Nic Schrodt. Soon after their marriage they came to Dyersville to llive and resided here up to eight years ago when the family moved to Des Moines and that place has been their home since. Nine children were born to the union and area as follows: Carl, Teckla, Leonetta, Mrs. Carl Horan, William, Lizzie, Winnifred Louise, Eberhardt and LeRoy all residing at Des Moines. She is also survived by one brother Mike Lichter of Wartage, S.D., and the following sisters, Magdalene, Mrs. N. Henkels of this city, Mary, Mrs. John Maiers of Holy Cross Theresa, Mrs. Peter Irthum of Holy Cross. All of the sisters and brothers were with her when she died, they having gone there last Thursday. The funeral will take place Friday. Dyersville Commercial, Sept. 6, 1917
