Description	:	Obit: Lowell R. Gothier, 81, of Obert, Nebraska, died Friday, October 3, 2008, at the Hillcrest Care Center in Laurel. Services were held at Holy Family Catholic Church with The Rev. James McCluskey officiating. Burial followed in Saints Philip and James Cemetery, with military graveside rites by Wynot American Legion Post 31. Arrangements were under direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Lowell Richard Gothier was born on August 20, 1927, the son of Paul and Margaret (Jensen) Gothier, on a farm east of Hartington, Nebraska. He attended Sunny Lee rural school east of Hartington and the Hartington High School. He served in the U.S. Army from March 1946 to March 1947. Lowell farmed for a few years after his service in the Army and then helped build Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, S.D. He moved to Omaha and worked for Wilson Manufacturing as a meat cutter for 17 years. After the Omaha plant closed its operation, he moved to Cherokee, Iowa, and worked for the Wilson plant there for another 20 years. When Lowell retired in the early 1990s he moved to Obert. He was a member of Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church in Wynot. He loved dogs, hunting, fishing and golfing. He also enjoyed to travel. He is survived by his brother Austin and his wife Delilah Gothier of Laurel; seven nieces and nephews. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Margaret Gothier and nephew Larry Becker.
