He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for Monday, Jan. 14, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Spearfish with the Rev. Tim Hoag as the celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery at Sturgis. Born in Lima, Ohio in 1947, the first son of John and Helen Clement, they resided in Delphos, Ohio during his early years. Their young family moved to South Dakota in 1958 and farmed near Miller, S.D. where he attended middle and high school. Clement later graduated from the University of South Dakota with a major in zoology, and chemistry minor and was a founder of the Theta Beta Chapter Sigma Nu Fraternity. It was during this time he met his lovely wife of 38 years, and married. He later received his MBA from Syracuse University in 1981. He was enlisted in the Reserve Officers Training Corp at USD and in 1970 began his military service as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in the Medical Service Corp. His 23 years of service included tours in Europe and the United States and ended with his seven year tenure in the Pentagon under General Mendez. Upon his retirement Clement returned to South Dakota and became an original partner in the Real Estate Center of Spearfish in 2002. He was the immediate past president of the Real Estate Center of Spearfish and was currently serving as president of the Real Estate Rental Center. His military experience carried through into his business career evidenced by his attention to detail, accuracy and interpersonal skills. Denny will be missed for his friendship, upbeat personality, sense of humor, and for his great story telling ability.
