Unfortunately, they were all in E Battery-and he got there just in time to see me, so I promised to tell Veithch, Simmons, and Sarver and the rest of them about him, which I did. (He is working on a new line to the front.) This is for Perrysburg’s consumption. E Battery’s train being just ahead of us he had missed them.” Private Arthur E. Limmer writes to his sister Aeta, from England: Somewhere in England, Sept. 21, 1918 Dear Sister and Folks, I am enjoying myself greatly. It was joke to watch the fellows who were sick, but I don’t think it was much of a joke to the boys who were seasick. The climate is rather cool here and also damp as the waves give us a shower bath every once in a while. I haven’t anything to do, nothing but read and just now the Y. M. C. A man came and gave of us boys paper and ink. It wound be so awful long, I think, until we will be coming back to the good old States. I hope so anyway. I could tell you so much of my delightful trip but it would make a big book full, so I’ll save it all until I get back home. I can tell you this is a wonderful old world. Everything here is very odd; seems to be years behind times. They build the houses very close together and very long. I guess on average from one to a dozen or The railroads are very queer. The country is very hilly and rough. It is just about harvesting time here. They raise mostly small grain and great deal of cattle, sheep and horses. We now live in barricks and it seems most like home to me. Give my best and love to all. I want to hear from you and all the folks. Write often and tell me all the news.
