Description	:	OBITUARY-THE PAWNEE REPUBLICAN LUCILE (RAPER) ULRICH Lucile (Raper) Ulrich was born March 10, 1919, in Milaca, Minnesota, the first child of Lyle and Emma (Faris) Raper. The family moved to Pawnee City in 1923 and grew to include brothers, Bill, Joe, Jack and Bob, and sister, Shirley. She attended Pawnee City schools until her senior year when the family moved to Burchard. She graduated from Burchard High School in 1936 and attended Peru State Teachers College. Read More	OBITUARY-THE PAWNEE REPUBLICAN LUCILE (RAPER) ULRICH Lucile (Raper) Ulrich was born March 10, 1919, in Milaca, Minnesota, the first child of Lyle and Emma (Faris) Raper. The family moved to Pawnee City in 1923 and grew to include brothers, Bill, Joe, Jack and Bob, and sister, Shirley. She attended Pawnee City schools until her senior year when the family moved to Burchard. She graduated from Burchard High School in 1936 and attended Peru State Teachers College. She taught in country schools in Pawnee County for five years. She was married to Edwin Ulrich on May 14, 1944, by Rev. August Bock at Salem Evangelical & Reformed Church near Steinauer. Three children were born of this union: Linda (Murphy), Donald and Ruth (Beethe). They lived near Steinauer, Nebraska, (at Mayberry) where Edwin farmed until his death August 8, 1976. She was a homemaker and then also worked at Beatrice State Developmental Center for 15 years until her retirement in 1984. She moved to Tecumseh in 2001 and continued to live independently until a few days before her death. Lucile was baptized at the Christian Church in Pawnee City on March 18, 1928, by Rev. J. S. Reel and was a member of that church until transferring to Salem after marriage. Her faith was strong and she was very active in Salem United Church of Christ all of her adult life. She taught Sunday school for many years and then enjoyed attending adult classes. She was a member of the Women's Fellowship and served various offices there. She was on the church council for six years and was a frequent deligate to UCC Lincoln Association and Nebraska Confrence meetings. She produced and mailed the monthly newsletter, the Signal, for many years. A highlight of her life was the trip to Israel she made with a group from her church soon after her 75th birthday. Lucile was also active in her community. She belonged to the former Steinauer Women's Club, Burchard Senior Citizens, Salem Seniors, and several social clubs. She delivered Meals on Wheels and Volunteered at Belle Terrace. She is survived by daughters Linda Murphy of Lincoln and Ruth Beethe and husband Howard of Tecumseh, son Donald Ulrich and wife Jean of Weeping Water; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister Shirley Stevicks of Humboldt, brother Robert Raper and wife Georgia of Grandview, Missouri, sister-in-law, Gertrude Ulrich of Tecumseh and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edwin and brothers, Bill, Joe, and Jack Raper. Funeral services were held at the Salem United Church of Christ, rural Steinauer, on Friday, March 13, 2009 with Rev. Cathy Rahorst and Rev. Ken Tubbesing officiating. Interment was in the Salem United Church of Christ cemetery adjoining the church.
