Lucy was born to Ervin and Alice Mowrey on September 22, 1925, in Chelan, Washington, growing up on a dry land wheat farm near Bear Mountain, and graduating in 1944, from Chelan High School. She was a resident of Chelan for 68 years before moving to Wenatchee about 11 years ago. Lucy was born to Ervin and Alice Mowrey on September 22, 1925, in Chelan, Washington, growing up on a dry land wheat farm near Bear Mountain, and graduating in 1944, from Chelan High School. On November 11, 1944, she married Daniel R. Hallock of Chelan and together they operated Hallock Trucking for the next 31 years. During the early years of their marriage, Lucy worked as a hand packer in the apple industry. Later, she also worked at various positions with the U.S. Forest Service and Seattle First National Bank. Around 1960, she began working for the Chelan School District, retiring in the early 1970's. In 1952, Lucy contracted polio while pregnant with their third child, who was delivered during her 6 months of treatment and rehab at the Deaconess Hospital in Wenatchee. For the remainder of her life, she continued to battle and overcome many obstacles resulting from both polio and the post-polio syndrome. In the 1950's, Lucy was actively involved in the Rebecca Lodge, becoming a Noble Grand and Past Noble Grand. She devoted herself to raising her three children and their many activities, Camp Fire Girls, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Little League Baseball, as well as being a "Classroom Mom". Her creative talents included cooking, sewing, crafts and music, encouraging all three of her children to play musical instruments. Over the years, Lucy thoroughly loved camping, fishing, and boating with her family and many friends on Lake Chelan as well as the Olympic Peninsula. Upon retirement, Lucy and Dan sold their home and embarked upon many wonderful adventures over an 11-year period, traveling full-time throughout the North American Continent. After her husband died in 1994, she lived independently in Wenatchee for 7 years before moving into assisted care at Riverwest. She last resided at Parkside Care Facility for two years, surrounded by many good friends. Survivors include two sons and one daughter, Michael Sr. and Claire Hallock of Maryland, Vickie and Terry Lesmeister and Barry and Lauri Hallock of Wenatchee; nine grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Colleen Hallock and Brandon Hallock of Maryland, Fawna and Hans Lesmeister-Schmidt of Wenatchee, Travis and Annelise Lemeister of Entiat, Seth and Ryan Hallock of Bellingham, Brook and Brian Boon and Jordan and Graham Cooper of Wenatchee; three great-grandchildren, Julia and Joshua Hallock of Maryland and Lauryn Boon of Wenatchee; two brothers, Frank Mowrey of California and Bill Mowrey; two sisters, Elsa Todd of Arkansas and Alice Garton of Chelan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan; her parents, Ervin and Alice Mowrey; and one sister, Ruth Gallagher. Services were held on Monday, August 8, 2005, at Betts Memorial Chapel. Services under the care of Betts Funeral Service.
