She was married to William Cumford in 1868 to whom was born a daughter, Miranda, now Mrs. Schuyler Sweat of Oak, Neb. She was married to Charles Ritchie in 1873, by whom she became the mother of eight children, four of whom are living: Mrs. Milt Ames of Bremerton, Wash., James Ritchie of Grafton, Neb., Elmer Ritchie of Scranton, Ia., and Frank Ritchie of Fairmont, Neb. Besides these children, Mrs. Ritchie leaves thirty-two grandchildren and nineteen great- grandchildren, also four brothers, Eben Jewell of Geneva, Thomas Jewell of Purdy, Mo., Elmer Jewell of Oregon, Mo., and Enoch Jewell of Tampa, Fla. In an early day Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie moved to Iowa and later, in 1880, to Fillmore County, Nebraska. In 1909 they moved to Custer County, Nebraska, where in September. 1911, Mr. Ritchie passed away. Soon after this Mrs. Ritchie returned to Fillmore County, making her home among her children. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sweat, at Oak, Neb. Mrs. Ritchie was converted early in life and united with the Baptist Church, continuing in that fellowship until death. She was a faithful Christian woman and exemplified it in her life of service to those about her, being particularly willing and efficient in time of sickness. She was affectionately known as "Aunt Cindy" by the members of her large family and a larger circle of friends who will greatly miss her loving companionship and kindly ministra- tions. Her work is done and well done and she has gone to her reward. Funeral services were conducted from the Geneva Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. W. H. Shoaf, who spoke by request of members of the family from the text, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life," John 14:6. The music was furnished by Mrs. W.H. Shoaf, Miss Beryl Hillgren, Henry Drake and Edgar Miller with Mrs. F. M. Holtz at the organ. Burial was in the Geneva Cemetery.
