Description	:	A TRIBUTE TO MOTHER Lucinda Winslow was born January 24, 1832, in Upper Sanduskey, Ohio and died at the home of her son, A.S.Lodwig in Keota, Iowa, Saturday evening at eleven O'clock, aged 84 years, 3 months and 5 days. She was united in marriage to J.T.Lodwig, March 23, 1854, who preceded her in death. To this union was born seven children, one daughter, Mrs. B.T.Stover of Rodman and six sons, A.S.Lodwig of Keota, W.G. Lodwig of Bassett, Nebraska, J.W.Lodwig of Akron, Colorado, and H.E. Lodwig of Kearney, Nebraska. Two sons preceded her in death. There also survive thirty-two grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren. Much of the time since the death of her husband, she has made her home with her children. The deceased was converted and united with M.E.Church early in life. She was a devoted Christian and always attended church when her health permitted. She died as she had lived, true to her God to the end, likened unto a ripened sheaf gathered home. To know her was to love her. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were J.W.Lodwig of Akron, Colo., Mrs. B.T.Stover of Rodman, Iowa, Mary Lodwig of Anita, and Mrs. J.O. Funk of Charles City and Mr. and Mrs. McCreery of Hedrick, all of whom were at her bedside at the time of her death. Funeral services were held at one o'clock Tuesday at the Champion Hill church and interment was made in the nearby cemetery. Darling mother we shall miss you From the homes your presence blest Miss your care and loving council Welcome smile, and fond caress. In the homes left now so darkened We shall greet you never more. For your Bark has crossed the river And has touched the Golden Shore. Oh, our hearts are sad and lonely As we mark the vacant chair And our tears fall fast for Mother We will miss her everywhere. But we cease our sad repining Dry our tears, nor sorrow more For our Mother rests in heaven She has gone before. And we hope at last to meet her In that land where seraphs dwell There in heaven with joy to greet her Never more to say farewell. I am quite sure that this poem was written by Dillie Stover, Lucinda's daughter .
