Description	:	LUCIUS DEWITT JOY Was born September 21, 1851, in Barry county (sic), Mich., where he grew to manhood and in October, 1872, with his parents moved to Nebraska, settling on a homestead south of where Oak now stands. He was married to Miss Clara Templin February 3, 1878, to which union was born six children, Lucius Wm., John Dewitt, Susie, Edna, Alma and Bernie, the latter dying in infancy. In 1887 he was converted and jointed the Mt. Zion Methodist church (sic). In the spring of 1898 he was with his family moved to Oak, transferring his membership to the church... Read More	LUCIUS DEWITT JOY Was born September 21, 1851, in Barry county (sic), Mich., where he grew to manhood and in October, 1872, with his parents moved to Nebraska, settling on a homestead south of where Oak now stands. He was married to Miss Clara Templin February 3, 1878, to which union was born six children, Lucius Wm., John Dewitt, Susie, Edna, Alma and Bernie, the latter dying in infancy. In 1887 he was converted and jointed the Mt. Zion Methodist church (sic). In the spring of 1898 he was with his family moved to Oak, transferring his membership to the church there, where he lived a faithful member until his death on August 11, 1921, aged 69 years, 9 months and 21 days. He is survived by his wife and five children, two brothers and one sister, many other relatives and a host of friends. The funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon, August 14, in the Oak Methodist church (sic) with the pastor, Rev. A.C. Bates, in charge. The sermon was delivered by Rev. H.G. Wilcox of Nelson, at the close of which Rev. C.W. Wells of Ong, an esteemed ex-pastor, made a brief address. The music was provided by members of the Methodist church choir of Davenport.
