Gayle, and one of the most highly esteemed residents of the North River section, died at her home on Monday, after an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Gayle was a native of Mathews County and was 69 years of age. She was a member of Emmanuel Church and a consistant christian. A woman of refined and attractive personality, a splendid hostess and representing as she did all the best traditions of Virginia womanhood, Mrs. Gayle was beloved by all who knew her. She is survived by one son, Mr. Walter Gayle, two brothers, Messrs Samuel and T. B. Diggs, and two sisters, Mrs. C. L. Hudgins and Miss May Diggs.
