Miss Lucy Steger, of David City, departed this life Sunday evening about 6:30 o'clock at the state hospital in Hastings, after illness of several months. She had an attack of influenza last spring, resulting in tuberculosis. She had been bedfast since April. The remains were brought to David City Sunday night and funeral services and burial were held Wednesday morning. The services were held at 9 o'clock in St. Mary's Catholic church and were conducted by Rev. Fr. Wageman, assistant pastor of St. Mary's church. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery near David City. Pallbearers were Louis Brochtrup, William and Lawrence Grubaugh, Richard Meysenburg, Henry Osantowski and Louis Steger. Miss Steger was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Steger and one of ten children. Mr. Steger died in February, 1926, but the mother still survives, also five brothers and three sisters. The brothers are Frank and Joseph Steger of David City, John of Clarks, Will of Bellwood and Louis of Lodell, Or., and the sisters are Mrs. Ernest Kroesing of Bellwood, Mrs. W. E. Grubaugh of Rising City and Miss Katherine Steger, living with her mother in David City. One sister, Mrs. Anna Jones, died two years ago. September 25, 1891, was the date of Miss Steger's birth. She was born in Butler county on the valley and grew to womanhood there. Eleven years ago she came to David City with her parents and lived here until five years ago when on account of illness she was taken to the Hastings hospital. Her mother and brothers and sisters, living in this vicinity, visited her during her last illness. All of the brothers and sisters, with exception of Louis Steger, were in attendance at the funeral services.
