The deceased had been in ill health for a number of years. Luella Margarett Gordon, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Gordon, was born March 22, 1912 in Creighton, Nebraska and passed away May 21, 1934 at 7:20 a.m. at the age of 22 years, 2 months and 3 days. She moved with her parents and one brother, Llewellyn to Osmond, Nebraska in 1914. On March 4, 1916 her mother passed away. After her mother's death she returned to Creighton with her father and brother, Llewellyn to make their home with her grandmother, Mrs. Jessie B. Youell. Her father enlisted in the United States Army April 1917 and was Corporal of C.A.C. 52nd Company, Fort Winfield Scott, San Francisco, California. He was honorably discharged from the army on December 21, 1918 with ill health and died at Battle Mountain Sanitarium at Hot Springs, S.D. on November 19, 1919. She continued to make her home with her grandmother, where she was taught the truths of Jesus in Bible stories and Children's Prayers and the joys of living a Christian life. Her grandmother passed away December 19, 1925. Mr. and Mrs. George Agler, her uncle and aunt, took charge of the home, where the past nine years they have filled the place of a father and mother for her and her two brothers with an affection that is rarely found in any home. She received her education in the Creighton Public School. Ill health forced her to quit school, but after two years, she longed to graduate like other girls and again entered Creighton High school and took a Commercial course and graduated in May 1931. She was a brilliant scholar, a lovely seamstress and was ever ready to right a wrong. She was of a forgiving spirit and with ill health the future often looked dark to her, yet she bravely struggled to look on the bright side of life. She was loved by all who knew her. In May 1926 she united with the M.E. church and was a bright member in the Sunday School. She was preceded in death by her father and mother and leaves to mourn her departure, two brothers, Llewellyn of Creighton and Howard of Chicago, Ill., besides many aunts, uncles and cousins, and a host of friends. Her lovable disposition won for her many friends and when she was once your friend she was always your friend. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 3, 1934 from the Federated church in Creighton, conducted by Rev. D.E. Ramseyer. The pallbearers were Vincent and Virgil Jackson, Bill Fickling, Ray Pearsell, Floyd Wakelee and Charles Bonge. The flower girls were Mrs. Naiman, Jessie Parkhurst, Gurna Oppen and Myrtle Rish. She was laid to rest in the Greenwood cemetery. The last rites were attended by approximately five hundred people and the funeral procession was one of the largest in the history of this city. A large floral display also gave mute evidence of the esteem the departed was held in by friends, who had made her acquaintance. To those who mourn the departure of a loved one, The News and friends unite in extending sincere sympathy in their hour of grief. Relatives from out of town in attendance at the funeral rites were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Blankenfeld, Niobrara; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Berger and daughter, Winnetoon; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bele and daughter, Pierce; Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Hegarty, Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. George Youell and son, Rushville; Mr. and Mrs. George Vahle, Pilger; Mr and Mrs. John Hakl, Stanton; Howard Gordon, Chicago and Merle Fulton of Brunswick.
