Description	:	Luella Oretta Folkers Petersen, 94, passed away on November 9, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Franklin. Lou was born May 25, 1917, northwest of Bloomington, Nebraska. She was the sixth of seven children born to Thomas and Lydia Folkers. Lou attended elementary school in the rural community of Ash Grove and graduated from Bloomington High School in 1935. On November 8, 1937, she married the love of her life, Allen Petersen, and to this union five children were born. She was the sixth of seven children born to Thomas and Lydia Folkers. Lou attended elementary school in the rural community of Ash Grove and graduated from Bloomington High School in 1935. On November 8, 1937, she married the love of her life, Allen Petersen, and to this union five children were born. Lou and Al lived in too many Nebraska communities to list while Al worked for the State Highway Department. In 1947, Lou and Al moved from Nebraska to a farm near LaMoille, Illinois, where they gained many lifelong friends. They returned to Franklin in 1961 where Lou continued giving her unending support as wife and mother while Al was employed at Blank Motor Company and later became the Franklin County Roads Superintendent. In 2002 Lou and Al were the very first residents of the new assisted living facility in Franklin. By her words and actions it was apparent Lou considered her greatest achievements to be nearly 70 years of marriage and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, all bonded in love. Her entire family will always remember the twinkle in her eye as she played yet another practical joke on the most unsuspecting target. Lou was a lifelong Methodist and since 1961 a member of the Franklin First United Methodist Church where she was active in Martha Friendship Circle. Lou is preceded in death by her husband Al, March 12, 2007, sisters Louise Yelken, Mary Fritson and Minnie Chisholm, and brothers George Folkers and Walt Folkers. Lou is survived by daughters Barbara McCray (Wayne) of Warren, Texas, Linda Almquist (Carl) of Evergreen, Colorado, Jean Konshak (Paul) of Radcliff, Kentucky, sons Gary (Ann) of Aurora, Colorado, and Dale (Donita) of Edmond, Oklahoma, nine grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, sister Laura Hill of Franklin and a host of relatives and friends.
