OBITUARY: "Louisa Schaffer was born in Cannstat, Germany, November 16, 1849. Her age at the time of her death on Friday, January 6 was 78 years one month and 19 days. She spent her girlhood days in Germany with her parents. On October 4, 1877 she was united in marriage to Theodore C.C. Harrsch. They immediately came to America and to Knox county, where they homesteaded near Knoxville. To this union four children were born, Mary, Louise, Mathilda and Theodore. Mr. Harrsch died February 20, 1918. Mary, then Mrs. Herman Dannert, died June 1925; Mathilda, then Mrs. Walter Smith Cash died January 28, 1926. Louisa, now Mrs. Robert Cash, and Theodore remain to mourn their mother. She also leaves twelve grandchildren who adored her and they will miss the love and kindly ministration of their Grandma, as they fondly called her. Mr. and Mrs. Harrsch were of the hardy pioneers who faced the hardships and privations of the early day. Mrs. Harrsch has been a familiar figure to Niobrara folk since she moved here twenty-one years ago and her passing has brought sadness to many hearts. She was a member of the German Lutheran Church for many years, bringing with her to America her Christian faith. Not having her own church here she affiliated with the Presbyterian church."
