OBITUARY: "Theodore Carl Harrsch was born on a farm near Walnut, NE on November 22, 1884, the son of Theodore and Louisa Harrsch. He passed away on May 5, 1958 at the age of 73 years, 5 months and 13 days. He received his education in the rural schools of Knox county and Niobrara High School. After leaving school he farmed with his father, one and a half miles east of Niobrara until his father's death. On November 17, 1920, Ted was united in marriage to Gertrude E. Reid and they moved directly to the farm. To this union was born one son, Reid, now of Syracuse, NY. Ted sold the farm in 1944 and purchased a home in Niobrara where he had lived ever since. He was Township Assessor for several years and also was employed at the Niobrara State Park until ill health forced him to quit work. He was chairman of the cemetery board at the time of his death and was a faithful worker at the cemetery. Ted was a life-long resident of Knox county, a good friend and neighbor, and ever-willing to help all who needed help. He was preceded in death by his wife Gertrude in March 1945, by his parents, and by three sisters, Mary (Mrs. Herman Dannert), Louise (Mrs. Robert Cash), and Mathilda (Mrs. Walter Cash). He leaves to mourn his loss, his son Reid Harrsch, two grandchildren, Keith and Sheila Harrsch; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Each Year the Master Calleth, Some loved ones to endless rest And our hearts, though filled with sadness, Can but say, He knoweth best. Funeral services were held at 10:00 o'clock Thursday morning at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Jos. Walstad in charge. Hymns "For The Beauty of the Earth" and "O' God Our Help In Ages Past" were sung by solist Mrs. Jos. Walstad. Interment was in L'Eau Qui Court cemetery. Acting as pallbearers were Walter Cash, Leo Cushman, Terry Rose, William Dannert and Herman Dannert, nephews, and Peter Dahlen, long time friend."
