Description	:	Lulu Madge (Randolph) Casey was the daughter of Lewis Spencer Fitz Randolph and Lydia Margaret (Stier) Randolph of Wilsonburg, Harrison County, West Virginia. As a child, Lula attended the Wilsonburg School with her brothers, Vance Eslie Randolph and Ward Randolph. Lula obtained her teaching certification from Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia, and began a career as a public school teacher. As a child, Lula attended the Wilsonburg School with her brothers, Vance Eslie Randolph and Ward Randolph. Lula obtained her teaching certification from Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia, and began a career as a public school teacher. On August 28, 1922, Lula married Nathan Lee Casey, a lay minister for the Methodist Church and a student at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon. The wedding took place in Clarksburg, West Virginia, at the home of the bride's brother and sister-in-law, and the couple enjoyed a honeymoon trip to Niagara Falls, NY. As was customary, Lula retired from teaching shortly after her marriage. While their married life began in the city of Buckhannon, Mrs. Casey's husband's career took the young family to numerous ministry assignments across the state of West Virginia. The oldest of the couple's three children, Virginia Lee Casey, was born in Buckhannon. Their sons, Ernest Randolph Casey and Joseph Howard Casey, were born in Charleston. Subsequent residences included Dunbar, Tunnelton, Wheeling, Pine Grove and Lumberport, West Virginia. Upon her husband's retirement, Lula and Lee settled near other family members in Salem, West Virginia. In addition to her husband and three children, Lula provided a comfortable home for her mother, Margaret Randolph, until Mrs. Randolph passed away in 1950. Assisting her children with their education was a primary interest for Mrs. Casey, and she successfully saw each of her three children enter college. Mrs. Casey's daughter, Virginia Lee, earned degrees at West Virginia Wesleyan, Columbia University, and Northwestern University. The college careers of her two sons were interrupted by the onset of World War II, and while her younger son Joseph was able to pursue advanced training state-side in the U.S. Navy and ultimately graduate from Harvard University and Duke Divinity School, Mrs. Casey's older son Ernest was inducted into the U.S. Army and sent to active duty in Europe, an experience that left Mrs. Casey "unable to cry" ever again after shedding so many tears of concern for her son. While Ernest returned home not long after the end of the war, his experience left him disabled and he lived with his parents for the rest of their lives. Mrs. Casey was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had attended the Wilsonburg Baptist Church as a child and young woman in the tradition of her family, and she became a member of the Methodist Church upon her marriage. She was an active participant in many church organizations and enjoyed attending camp meetings with her husband at Mountain Lake Park in Maryland. Mrs. Casey preceded her husband in death on December 29, 1969. She is fondly remembered by her three children and six grandchildren. By: Anne Gleason, Granddaughter OBITUARY MRS. N. L. CASEY SALEM - Mrs. Lulu Randolph Casey, 80, 56 Oak Street, died early Monday afternoon in a Clarksburg hospital following a long illness. She was born Dec. 9, 1889, at Salem, a daughter of the late Spencer and Margaret Stier Randolph. Surviving are her husband, the Rev. N. L. Casey, a retired Methodist minister of Salem; two sons, Ernest R. Casey, at home and the Rev. Joseph H. Casey, Logan; one daughter Mrs. George (Virginia Lee) Gleason, Springfield, Mo.; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers. Mrs. Casey received her normal teaching certificate from Salem College and taught in Adamston and Buckhannon.
