Description	:	LuVerne Manchester, Fort Dodge, passed away December 28, 2007, at Trinity Regional Hospice. She was born October 26, 1917, in Dayton Township. Her parents were Verne and Eva (Long) Smith. LuVerne was baptized and confirmed in the Dayton Methodist Church, and attended Dayton and Burnside schools, graduating from Burnside. She married Stanley Alden Manchester on October 10, 1942. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1992. Stan died in 1997. LuVerne was baptized and confirmed in the Dayton Methodist Church, and attended Dayton and Burnside schools, graduating from Burnside. She married Stanley Alden Manchester on October 10, 1942. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 1992. Stan died in 1997. After Stan was discharged from the army, LuVerne and Stan operated airports in Hot Springs, S.D. and Fort Dodge. After leaving the airport, she was credit and office manager of a local furniture store for 12 years. LuVerne was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. She was an active member of Ruth Circle. Their home was always open to family and friends, including housing for several nieces while attending college in Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor Hanson. She is survived by sister-in-law Sarah Manchester and by many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at the Celebration Center, Friendship Haven at 2 p.m. Visitation is before the service, at 1 p.m. Her ashes will be interred at a later date. The Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Domestic Assault Outreach Center, P.O. Box 773, Fort Dodge, 50501 or to the Care Trust Endowment or Good Samaritan Fund at Friendship Haven, 420 Kenyon Road, Fort Dodge or to the charity of your choice. ***** Burial services for LuVerne Manchester of Fort Dodge will be held on Sunday, May 25 (2008), at 11 a.m. at the Dayton Cemetery in Dayton, Iowa. Mrs. Manchester passed away December 28, 2007.
