Bert Loyd Bartley. m 27 May 1938 in Yukon, OK. ----------------------------------------------------- Lyda Virtner Hull and Lucy Jane Hull were identical twin sisters. Lyda Hull, Lucy Hull, and sister Dixie Ann Hull, all married in the same ceremony at their father's home on the old Hull Place on Melrose Road, south of Lockesburg. Lyda Bartley taught school, first in the Oklahoma City, OK area, and her later years after moving back to Lockesburg, in the Lockesburg schools. Lyda, to the children and grandchildren of her twin sister Lucy, were given the priviledge of calling her "Auntie". All other nieces and nephews were expected to call her "aunt Lyda". Lyda loved to garden. She always had beautiful flower beds outside and grew beautiful African Violets on the north windowsills in her kitchen. She was always happy to provide me (John Bales) with cuttings of the violets to take home and root. One memory of "Auntie" is of her dogs, in particular a beautiful black Cocker Spaniel named "Mollie". Mollie was not fond of younger children so we had to be careful around her but she was a beautiful dog. "Auntie" liked cocker spaniels and had several liver-colored ones in her later lifetime after Mollie passed. My mom Ruth Harrison Bales, myself, my sister Linda, and Grandmother Lucy Harrison all visited Lyda on the day before she died. She was tired and complaining of an upset stomach over several days but still was able to get out of the house. We worked in her strawberry bed where we found a large Indian spear point. We were there to wish her and Lucy both a 'happy birthday'. The next day she was taken to the hospital in Ashdown in the morning and by the time we'd gotten home to Stamps, AR that afternoon, "Auntie" had passed away of a heart attack. She was always my favorite aunt of all my Grandmother Lucy Harrison's sisters and brothers.
