Description	:	FORMER RESIDENT OF HURON DIES Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia Grimes, 75, widow of John J. Grimes, who died Friday at the Wichita Masonic home, will be held at the Stanton chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the Huron cemetery. Pallbearers will be L.D. Wilson, Otis Reece, Henry Bushong, C.F. Wahls, R.H. Starnes, and C.A. Buttron. Mrs. Grimes was born at Cummings Feb. 27, 1880, a daughter of Edward and Alvira Vandiver and lived there until her marriage in August, 1897. Mrs. Grimes was born at Cummings Feb. 27, 1880, a daughter of Edward and Alvira Vandiver and lived there until her marriage in August, 1897. They began housekeeping at Old Huron and lived there until moving to Huron in 1908. She was chief operator at the Huron telephone exchange several years and later was employed at the SBA hospital at Topeka. She had lived at the Masonic home since 1948. Last April 14 she suffered a broken hip in a fall at the home. She was a member of the Huron Presbyterian church and the OES chapter at Huron. Her husband died in July, 1937. Surviving are a son, James Grimes,Goff; a granddaughter, Mrs. Carl Barracbough, and two great grandsons, all of Kansas City; three sisters, Miss Lula Vandiver, Reedley, Calif.; Mrs. Zona Wigelsworth, Parsons, and Mrs. Nora Chaffee, Crestone, Colo.
