Description	:	Lydia C. Mann, 96 of Beatrice died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at the Beatrice Good Samaritan Center. She was born Sept. 29, 1913, on the family farm north of Diller, Neb. She graduated from Diller High School and received her Teaching Certificate from Peru College and taught at Harbine for six years. She married Lester Mann on April 24, 1937, and they spent most of their lives in Ellis. She was very active in the Ellis United Methodist Church, UMW, taught Sunday school, directed the choir and served as the church treasurer for many years. She worked for J.M. She was born Sept. 29, 1913, on the family farm north of Diller, Neb. She graduated from Diller High School and received her Teaching Certificate from Peru College and taught at Harbine for six years. She married Lester Mann on April 24, 1937, and they spent most of their lives in Ellis. She was very active in the Ellis United Methodist Church, UMW, taught Sunday school, directed the choir and served as the church treasurer for many years. She worked for J.M. McDonald clothing store, Skinner's Photography Studio and later Zabloudil's. She worked at Good Samaritan Center for 13 years. She volunteered at Good Samaritan Center, for Hospice and Braille. She enjoyed being a member of Extension club, arts and crafts, playing cards, was an avid bowler, and liked to take bus tours. Survivors include daughters, Kay Wiens and husband Ron of Beatrice, Linda Loth and husband Les of Lincoln; grandsons, Scott Wiens and wife Brenda of Beatrice, Shawn Wiens and wife Jill of Beatrice; Jason Loth and wife Stacey of Mesa, Ariz.; granddaughters, Susan Nelson of Lincoln, Amy Allen and husband Jason of Lenexa, Kan.; great-grandsons, Andrew Wiens, Jarrod Wiens, Collin Wiens, Erik Nelson, Garrett Nelson, Jack Nelson and Aiden Allen; great-granddaughters, Shely Bauman and husband Matt, Taylor Wiens, Sidney Loth, Shay Loth, Piper Allen; great-great-grandsons, Gus Bauman, Henry Bauman; great-great-granddaughters, Hannah Bauman, Clara Bauman; brother, Orville Krebs and wife Dorothy of Oregon; sisters, Faye Schmidt and husband Edwin of Diller, Phyllis Wiemers and husband Delmar of Diller; brother-in-law, Earl Bartlett of Beatrice; sisters-in-law, Amanda Krebs of Fairbury, Bethel Krebs of Lincoln, Doris Menke of Aurora, and Letty Phelps of Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Mann (1982); parents, Emil and Ella (Engelman) Krebs; brothers, Clarence Krebs and Elmer Krebs; sisters, Viola Smith, Mildred Malchow and Elda Sasse; daughter, Judy Mann; great-grandson, Josh Wiens; grandson-in-law, Dave Nelson. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Ellis United Methodist Church, Ellis, Neb., with Pastor Fay Hubbard officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and Friday, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Harman-Wright Mortuary, Beatrice, and also one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, Diller, Neb. Memorial is established to Ellis United Methodist Church, in lieu of flowers, with Bob and Susie Carpenter in charge.
