The Odebolt Chronicle - Thursday , March 1st, 1945 - The community was shocked to hear of the passing of Mrs. Harry Fox, pioneer resident of Odebolt, who was summoned from this life, Saturday, Feb. 24, at St. Catherine's hospital at Omaha. She had been in the hospital only a few weeks, but there was no hope for her recovery, despite everything that medical skill and attentive nursing could do. She had been in failing health for several months. Lydia C. Buehler, oldest child of George and Lucy Buehler, was born in Odebolt Sept. 3, 1878. She passed away Feb. 24, 1945, at the age of 66 years, five months and 21 days. She was united in marriage to Harry B. Fox on Nov. 28, 1900. To this union five children were born: Lucille Dorothy, who died in infancy, Eugene of Blue Earth, Minn., Paul of Odebolt, Elaine (Mrs. Edward S. Rhoads) of Cedar Falls, and Harold, who died July 5, 1942. Mrs. Fox united with the Methodist church at an early age, and later became a member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church. The deceased was also a member of the South Sac Improvement club. She was preceded in death by her parents, two children, and one sister, Flora (Mrs. Edward Reed). She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, three children, five grandchildren, one brother, John Buehler of Odebolt, a number of other relatives, and a host of friends. Services were held at the house at 10:30 Tuesday morning and last rites were conducted at the Odebolt Methodist church at 11 o'clock. The Rev. Paul R. Johnson, assisted by Rev. Brand of Sac City, had charge of the service. Mrs. Marvin Friday and George Hilburn sang "Just For Today " and Mr. Hilburn sang "Going Home." Mrs. W.G. Horstman was the accompanist. Pallbearers were Eugene Criss and Kenneth Littlefield of Sac City, John Sauter, Harold McWilliams, Glenn Rohlf and Harry Carlson. Many relatives and friends from a distance attended the services. Among those were Mr. and Mrs. H.M . Fox of Clear Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Fox of Jasper, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Fox of Blue Earth, Minn., Mrs. Edward S. Rhoades of Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. and Mrs. George Quirk of Storm Lake, F.O. Haug and Mrs. Lou McFadden of Manchester, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Quirk and Mrs. Sterling Wells of Schaller, A.G. Redman, Mr. Baxter, Mr. Anderson, Mr. McBride, Roy Irwin, Eugeen Criss, Kenneth Littlefield of Sac City; Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Landgraf and Will Landgraf of Early, Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Wade and H.J. Draper of Lake View, and Merle Barkley of Sioux Falls, SD.
