Smithson was born at Martinsville, Clinton county, Ohio, July 26, 1848, and passed from this life at her home near Weldon on March 15, 1914, aged 65 years, 7 months and 19 days. She with her parents came to Illinois in the spring of 1867. She was united in marriage to James R. Puckett on the 8th day of September. 1869. OBITUARIES -- Mrs. Pucket (Weldon Corner) -- Lydia M. Smithson was born at Martinsville, Clinton county, Ohio, July 26, 1848, and passed from this life at her home near Weldon on March 15, 1914, aged 65 years, 7 months and 19 days. She with her parents came to Illinois in the spring of 1867. She was united in marriage to James R. Puckett on the 8th day of September. 1869. To this union were born seven children, all of whom were present at the funeral: Mrs. Josie Hallowell of Farmer City, Illinois; Miss Millie, who has always remained at home; Mrs. Myrtle Owens of Van Wert; Mrs. Miriam Cassity of Purdin, Missouri; John M. of Bozeman, Montana; Mrs. Edith Wilson of Van Wert, and Rolland of Loma, Montana. She also leaves two brothers, F. S. Smithson of Bellingham, Washington and L. C. Smithson of Lebanon, Indiana, who were also present at the funeral. In the year of 1892 she came with her husband and family to Iowa, and since has resided in or near this vicinity. Her parents were members of the Friends church and she was reareed in that fait but transferred her membership with her husband to the Methodist Episcopal church in 1869. She was a devoted wife, a Christian mother and of a kind disposition. A mother who always wore a pleasant smile, forgetting her own troubles until the last. Thus removed from our midst another homemaker a Christian woman, whose life was full of service for her family and her Master. Funeral services were held at the home on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Hodgson. Interment was then made in the Green Bay cemetery. Bio by: [email protected]
