He was a member of one of the best families in this vicinity and the news of his death will be recieved with deep regret by a large circle of friends and acquaintences. "Osceola [Iowa] Sentinel" Feb. 17, 1919. CONFIRMS DEATH of HIS SON -- James R. Pucket received two letters the past week, one from the War Department and the other from the Graves Registration Service, each confirming the death of his son, Walter R. Puckett, a member of the machine shop truck unit, Q. M. C., A. E. F. The information states that private Puckett died of lobar pneumonia October 10, 1918, and was buried in the American Cemetery Commune of Vanbecourt, Mense, France. The deceased grew to manhood in the vicnity of Weldon where he is well and favorably known. While the father entertained hopes that the first report of the death of his son might prove to be a mistake the confirmation of the fact that he made the supreme sacrifice in the cause of his country and was buried with military honors is a source of consolation to the bereaved parent who has the sympathy of all patriotic people.
