She was 100 and lived in Chester. Mrs. Gregory, who retired in 1955 after about 20 years with the school, celebrated her 100th birthday last month at Clarksville Baptist Church with more than 175 friends and relatives. A native of Halifax, she attended Halifax School and moved to Clarksville in 1922. She worked for Howerton's Antiques for about four years before she married Melvin Young Gregory in 1926. Mrs. Gregory, who retired in 1955 after about 20 years with the school, celebrated her 100th birthday last month at Clarksville Baptist Church with more than 175 friends and relatives. A native of Halifax, she attended Halifax School and moved to Clarksville in 1922. She worked for Howerton's Antiques for about four years before she married Melvin Young Gregory in 1926. Her husband died in 1935. Survivors include two sons, Ernest Gregory of Clarksville and James Gregory of Chester; a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Sneed of Buffalo Junction; and one grandson. A funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. at Clarksville Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oakhurst Cemetery in Clarksville. (Richmond Times-Dispatch - Wednesday, September 12, 1990)
