Description	:	Service of Remembrance for Lydia Follmer, 90, of Hettinger, ND will be at the United Methodist Church in Hettinger on March 8, 2007 at 1:30 PM MT. Rev. Garry Weems will officiate and burial will follow at the Hettinger Cemetery. Visitations will be from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday afternoon. Lydia (Mattis) Follmer was born May 17, 1916, northeast of Hettinger on the family farm in Adams County, North Dakota, to Henry and Elizabeth (Reichert) Mattis. She attended country school and then attended Hettinger High School. Lydia met Edward Follmer and they were married on February 11, 1942, in the Baptist Church in Plevna, Montana. Later that year, in November, Edward was inducted into the Army. While he was in the Army, they lived in Medford, Oregon, where Edward was stationed. Upon his honorable discharge on February 4, 1944 he and Lydia moved back home, northeast of Hettinger, started farming and began raising a family of three children: Jerold, Betty and Roger. Lydia's hobbies were making quilts and crocheting. She loved music, playing the piano, baking and cooking German foods and playing cards. Her family came first in her life and she will be missed so very much. Lydia Follmer died March 5, 2007 at the Hillcrest Care Center in Hettinger, ND. She is survived by two sons: Jerold (Barbara) Follmer of Aurora, Colorado, Roger Follmer of Hettinger, North Dakota; one daughter: Betty (Harold) Shimek of Klamath Falls, Oregon; one granddaughter: Kristin Shimek of Medford, Oregon; one grandson: David (Judy) Shimek of Billings, Montana; one great-granddaughter: Isabel Shimek of Billings, Montana; one brother: Albert Mattis of Mott, North Dakota; plus a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, on September 14, 1998, her parents, four brothers: Gottlieb, Henry, William, Edward; five sisters: Elizabeth Seidel, Rose Hepper, Margaret Purdue, Martha Sittner, Emma Albrecht. A Memorial will be established by her family.
