Description	:	Chickasaw County Pioneer Called Nashua Reporter dated 8 August 1912 Lydia S. Rowley was born in Steuben Co. New York. She moved with her parents, George and Charity Rowley, to Michigan, when a child, and later they moved to Fayette, Ia., where she was married Nov. 25, 1850, to John W. Johnson who preceded her to the better land April 8, 1900. From Fayette they moved to Bradford and later to the farm near Bassett in 1854 where she died July 27, 1912. Rowley was born in Steuben Co. New York. She leaves to mourn her loss one sister, Mrs. Laura Ressler of Shell Rock, Ia., and two brothers, George R. Rowley of Waterloo and Amos O. Rowley of Wilke, Ia. She was the mother of eight children of whom Effie, the youngest, died when two and one-half years of age. The surviving children are Mrs. Elizabeth C. Blunt and J. Lewis Johnson, both of Charles City, Mrs. Elvira R. Gault of Bassett, Mrs. Elfrada E. Thomas of Ionia, Mrs. Charlotte C. Augustine of Cedar Rapids, and George and Ey, who are living at home. She is mourned by a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the M.E. Church and professed religion over sixty years ago and has been a true Christian women in deed and thought.
