A native of Buffalo, she was a daughter of the late Berry William and Ellen Sumner Gregory. She was retired from United Merchants, Buffalo Plant, and had been a very active member of Buffalo Baptist Church, where she had served as member and past president of the Ester Scarborough Sunday School Class, a member of the W.M.U., member and past president of the Senior Adult Club Young at Heart, a member of... Read More	UNION - Mable Frances Gregory Byars, 83, formerly of 121 Hillcrest Drive died March 11, 2000, in Wallace Thomson Hospital, after an extended illness. A native of Buffalo, she was a daughter of the late Berry William and Ellen Sumner Gregory. She was retired from United Merchants, Buffalo Plant, and had been a very active member of Buffalo Baptist Church, where she had served as member and past president of the Ester Scarborough Sunday School Class, a member of the W.M.U., member and past president of the Senior Adult Club Young at Heart, a member of the Senior Adult Choir, and had taught in the primary Sunday School Department for 30 years. Surviving are her husband, James Benson Byars; and one brother, Fred Gregory of Buffalo. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at Holcombe Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Buffalo Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Tim Anderson and Wayne Jones. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. to await the hour of service. The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.J. West Jr., 119 Hillcrest Drive, Union. Memorials may be made to Buffalo Baptist Church Building Fund, 1424 Main St., Buffalo, S.C. 29331.
