Description	:	From the Old Friends News, Quakerville, Gosper county, Nebraska 1952 I was born near Fairfield, Iowa and came to the Quakerville neighborhood with my parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers in 1894. Of course, I don’t remember coming to Nebraska, as they tell me I was just six weeks old. I have many memories of the old Quaker church. I can still see Mr. Hibbs leading the singing and Mrs. Hibbs, Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Hanlin with their little blcak bonnets. Mrs. Hanlin was the Sunday school teacher I most clearly remember. I can still see Mr. Hibbs leading the singing and Mrs. Hibbs, Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Hanlin with their little blcak bonnets. Mrs. Hanlin was the Sunday school teacher I most clearly remember. She asked us to recite Bible verses each Sunday and it seemed Mima Birt always had the most verses. The ministers I remember were Mrs. McGraw, Eddie McDaniels, Mr. Reeves, Mr. Hortman, Mr. Stanfield and Mr. Dickerson. I received my first 8 grades of schooling at the Hibbs school. My first teacher was Alice Jenkins in 1900. I thought she was a wonderful person as a 6 year old would, you know. Blanche Rinehart was my 8th grade teacher, then in between were Mable Searle, Margaret Knxpple, John Furrow, Ruth Clark, Mabel Richardson. May Joy and I got my teacher’s training from Minnie Montgomery. I am still living in this neighborhood as I married a young man, Bruce Phillips, from here in 1916. We later bought his father’s farm. Maybe we haven’t done so well financially but we have our home, raised a family of 3 children and now have 6 grandchildren. I feel that I have been a better person for having lived all these years in old Quakerville. Mable (Major) Philips P.S. We’ve enjoyed this reunion so much and wish all could have been here.
