(Source: FaG Contributor 47078678) Mabel Shore, daughter of Millard and Jenney Kenney Shore, was born at Cameron, Neb., near Grand Island, September 10, 1889. After a long illness, she passed away at the Colonial Manor Home in Geneva, July 14, 1967, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and four days. She attended the public schools in Crete, Neb. and became a member of the Crete Methodist church in Crete, Neb. as a girl. She later graduated from Kearney State Normal school. She was married to George M. Schepers, September 30, 1911. To this union two children were born, Stuart and Francis. Mr. and Mrs. Schepers lived in Crete the first two years after their marriage, then moved to Fairmont in 1913, and have lived here ever since. Mrs. Schepers transferred her membership to Grace Methodist Church in Fairmont in 1924. She became a member of the Eastern Star July 22, 1918, and served as the treasurer for 30 years. She was worthy matron of the chapter for three years. She worked in the Schepers store with her husband for many years. She lived an active life, and believed that work is not something to be shunned, but to be enjoyed. She loved sports and eagerly watched the games being played. She like to travel, had numerous hobbies, making many novel things such as rugs, pillows, crocheted and knitted materials. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mrs. Naomi Allgood and Mrs. Pearl Holaday and one brother, Guy Shore. She is survived by her husband, George; two sons, Stuart A. Schepers of Shelton and Francis S. of Fairmont; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Gonder of Tampa, Fla. Mrs. Odetta Fisher of Palo Alto, Cal, and Mrs. Valia Jannota of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Carl Shore of Anchorage, Alaska. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Methodist church Monday, July 17, at 10 a.m. by Rev. Paul W. Walker. Mrs. Richard Ekwall sang "Beyond the Sunset," and "God Understands," accompanied by Mrs. A.P. Stewart. Bearers were her six Schepers grandsons, Larry, James, Dan, Kenneth, Tim and Mark. Burial was in the Fairmont cemetery with Mt. Moriah Chapter No. 38 O.E.S. in charge.
